VOICESVOICES

Nico Turner and Jenean Farris, don't write songs so much as they construct aural soundscapes. The Los Angeles based duo came together in 2008, after meeting at a Xu Xu Fang show. Both musicians were originally drummers for other bands and wanted to show that drummers were creative musical forces and more than merely providers of backbeats for other people's songs. Originally, the project was an experiment in the creation of sound, with masking vocals swirling like ghosts in a sea of reverb, beats and distortion, creating sound amounting to a beautiful clutter.

Through more than dozens of shows in their early months, they developed their style and fanbase at the same time, playing mostly in galleries and all age venues like The Smell. VOICESVOICES released their first self-produced and self-released EP, "Sounds Outside" within a few months of forming.

Manimal Vinyl who released their EP "Origins" in January, 2010. The EP was produced by Prefuse 73, who postponed his own recording for the opportunity to work with the band.

The duo has recently released a 7" on local Los Angeles indie label How To Fight Records showcasing both their shoe-gazing and electronic beat-making talents. VOICESVOICES will re-release their first EP, Sounds Outside, on Lefse Records In the summer of 2010, and their cover of David Bowie's Heroes will be featured on Manimal Vinyl's tribute to David Bowie in the fall of 2010. They will head back to the studio to record a full-length album in the summer of 2010.
